Meet the Farmer March 15th: Thank You For Joining Us

Hi everyone,

We hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather this Saturday. Parkchester CSA had a successful Meet the Farmer Event. We saw familiar faces coming back for this years CSA and new faces excited to join the CSA funnest. Everyone were asking questions and the intersections were mutual and exciting. This brought positive energy and a great start of this year's Parkchester CSA season.

Parkchester CSA is thanking you for passing by and listening to Cheryl Rogowski, a wonderful farmer and Also for sharing your thoughts and questions. We are looking forward to see you very soon. I believe that we will arrange a farm trip on March 29th. As mentioned by our farmer, Cheryl Rogowski: Rogowski Farm is having a welcome CSA members to the farm on March 29th and everyone who is part of the CSA or are interested in joining this year can join the trip and get farm breakfast for free.

We are also selling Parkchester CSA logo Tote bags fort $5: This tote bags were hand crafted by Lizzette Bonfante who is also an artist who volunteered to make this happen. All of the money will go to the CSA program and this will help a lot for members that can not afford to pay a full or half share.

Opening Day and First Cooking Demo Pics

                                                  
We had a great time today meeting new members and old alike and distributing this week's shares. Click the break for more pics and for this weeks's recipe! Also, stay tuned for the next cooking demonstration in two or three weeks, which will be on Vietnamese salad rolls with a peanut dipping sauce!

Our Meet The Farmer Event!

Over a dozen people met our farmer, Cheryl Rogowski, at St. Paul's Church in Parkchester on Saturday morning, April 21.    Cheryl brought some fantastic pestos and spreads from the Rogowski Farm's Black Earth line and a couple of baskets full of Sweet Potato Bombs made with sweet potatoes grown on the farm. 

Cheryl told us everyone at the Farm is excited about the new growing season, and a lot of work has gone into rebuilding from last year's Tropical Storms Irene and Lee and the Halloween snowstorm. Peas, onions, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, scallions and various colors of carrots are among the veggies growing for harvest in June.   Later in the summer, the farm will have tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squashes, basil, dill, turnips, snap beans, cabbages, kale and more.

There is still time to sign up to become a member of Parkchester CSA -- deadline is May 31.
